Proverbs 26:24 NIV

Can I be blunt? Here is the thing. Solomon is not talking about the obvious enemies. Those who come against us that we can spot from a mile away or those who try to break in our door to bring us loss or harm are not who he is referring to. This section of Proverbs is about the enemy we assumed was a friend, on our side. These enemies say what they believe we want to or even need to hear. However they are not looking out for the interests of God in our journey. What they say feels right, it affirms the desires within us. They give permission for the behaviors that we believe we want. They may even do all this believing they are looking out for us and what is best. The clear distinction is seen in the reality that their input and involvement does not reflect Gods word. Oh it may reflect 1% or even 99% of Gods view but they poison His truth with their deceit, intended or not. Those who would lead us away from Gods plan tend to speak up when we are most vulnerable. Usually those closest to us, old ‘friends’ or even family. They speak loudest when we are hurting deeply, confused, battling irrational thoughts and desires. Maybe we just need a break and time to refocus on what Gods relevant truth reveals, even demands but at that moment we need to know and be reminded that Satan is here to steal, kill and destroy. Look at the counsel you are getting. Is it building, restoring and healing as it brings us into alignment with Gods eternal Truth? The Truths that deep down you know and truly believe. If not, flee from those voices. Today evaluate your path and allow God to affirm it is His and if it’s not then plead with Him to correct it. As long as you draw breath it is never to late. #BeTheEdge
