Proverbs 26:28 NIV

Readers Digest once gave a list of histories greatest lies. Not sure they truly heard all the lies ever told but, here are a few of their top 10:

  • The Black Sox Baseball Players.
  • P.T. Barnum’s Circus of Frauds.
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis.
  • The fake Anastasia.
  • The Watergate Scandal.
  • The Ponzi Scheme.

I’m not sure how many you recognize but these are truly some whoppers. There are some biblical ones that were pretty big as well. Three told by the “Father of lies” himself to Jesus in the desert. All lies are wrong and dangerous to the teller, the listener and in some cases the one lied about. The two most dangerous these days are slander about another and false flattery which can set a person up for destruction. I’ve been slandered about and I’m sure you have. It’s hurtful and can be damaging but when someone praises you to your face or in front of others yet wants to hurt you behind your back, that’s truly dangerous. Thankfully God has your back. Our responsibility is to be sure we are never the source of either of those destructive behaviors. Today be a source of blessing and truth and allow God to watch your back. #BeTheEdge
