Well, that is certainly an unpleasant idea. Cutting off your feet or drinking poison are both pretty bleak thoughts. This must not be just any message. Theologians tell us this refers to a very important message. The Gospel would be one of those kinds of messages. Jesus’ disciples did not initially exude confidence as bold, trustworthy messengers. However, three years of walking intimately with the Savior transformed them into message carriers who facilitated the beginning of a movement that has changed the world. The secret to the messenger is not who they are but whose they are. This verse also reminds us that some messages should be delivered by our own two feet. Sending an unreliable person is like cutting off our own feet. There are times when no one else should be the messenger but us. When God calls you to go, go. Don’t delay or look for another to do it. The world is not getting better, and the Gospel is desperately needed everywhere. Today, be the messenger. #BeTheEdge
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
