Proverbs 26:7 NIV

The interesting part of this verse is that there’s nothing wrong with the proverb itself—it’s the delivery system. When a fool delivers truth, there’s at least some level of misalignment between the person and the message that disqualifies or, at the very least, cheapens the message itself. It may be that people know the one delivering the truth, and when they run it through the grid of that person’s life, it comes out flat, empty, or simply dismissed. Often, the truth is also used out of context—and that happens frequently in our world. Even Satan took biblical truth and pulled it completely out of context when tempting Jesus in the wilderness. Thankfully, Jesus knew the truth and the context, and could immediately rebuke and expose the distortion. In business, it’s important to consider who is delivering the company’s message and whether they reflect the true heart of the organization. I know of a large franchise company founded on Christian principles, but—as you might expect—some of the franchisees don’t adhere to those same Kingdom values. As a result, they fail to reflect the foundational truth of the founder. I don’t know the perfect answer, but you can see the challenge. The bottom line in Solomon’s message to us is that our primary responsibility is to reflect our King clearly and with great integrity. Today, let your light shine in a clear and honest way. #BeTheEdge
