Proverbs 26:9 NIV

Leftovers, am I right? I mean spaghetti the next day after being in the fridge soaking in the sauce when reheated is one of the great gifts to mankind. The only thing better might be Thanksgiving leftovers. Days of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and all the rest culminating in a huge pot of soup made from the turkey carcass. Ok, hungry now? These are leftovers that even this guy, who typically hates leftovers, can appreciate. Here is the thing. As good as they can be in a meal nobody and I mean nobody wants life leftovers. Too often as believers we try to live out our days on yesterday’s lessons. I had a mentor who would ask me whenever he saw me, “what is God teaching you today”. Once I tried to get away with a generic answer. He busted me for it. I even tried what I learned yesterday or the day before. Same result, busted. You see he lives with the belief God wants to teach us fresh, new lessons. His word makes it clear that is true. His presence and experience is fresh and new every morning. Today enjoy the meal of leftovers but walk in a fresh lesson from your heavenly Father. #BeTheEdge
