When this was written there was not much that demonstrated the disparity that existed in social standing more than these two, the poor and the oppressor or the usurer who took advantage of and caused great suffering for the poor. Solomon reminds us that both have the basic common fact that God created, sees and will bring to justice, both of them. For the poor this provides great comfort. Knowing that the great God of the universes knows and cares for all of us should bring a light of encouragement to our eyes. However as there is comfort for the poor, that he has a tender Father who watches over him; here is a warning for the rich, that he will have to give an account of his stewardship. How the rich treats not only his resources but those he encounters and does business with is seen by God and they will answer to Him for how they behave. This can be a difficult situation for the person who is driven to succeed in an exchange based economy. They expect not only to get for what they give but the expect to come out ahead in the exchange. Those operating from a place of grace will bless regardless of their position. Today practice grace and watch God work. #BeTheEdge
