Proverbs 30:18 NIV

That’s a short list compared to the things that are too amazing and beyond my ability to understand. Solomon is about to talk about 4 things that leave no trace that they have passed through the world as they go by. This seems to fascinate Agur as he describes them to the reader. There is some very deep discussion among theologians about this verse and its culmination in verses 19 and 20. All agree that it speaks to the powerful and awe inspiring fact that though they are strong and bold in their presence they leave no explanation or sign that they passed by. Most believe they reflect a mystical and powerful symbol of the presence and movement of God’s spirit through our lives and the world. They reference the power of the Holy Spirit coming over Mary as Jesus is conceived. This is all very heady for me. The single point I take away is that God moves powerfully where He wants as well as through our lives and though we aren’t always fully aware of how and when we know He is here. Today look with awe at God’s quiet presence. #BeTheEdge
