“You see, here’s the thing, Granddaddy…” when I hear this it is usually coming from the 5-year-old little girl in the car seat behind me. I quickly focus because I know I’m about to hear what is really at the heart of this precious child. I know that at that moment she has listened to my initial reply, run it through her very sharp mind, and is about to give me her well thought out and very calculated response to get what she wants. It usually has to do with where she wants to go for a treat or to try a new flavor of Icee after being told that I don’t have time to make a stop. Like a 5-year-old in her valiant efforts to get something she wants, we might attempt to push back against what we know is right in God’s Word. However, His Word has been put through an incredibly rigorous process of testing for centuries and has never been wrong and has never failed. His reasoning is flawless and undeniable. We can argue it, ignore it, even deny it but we cannot disprove it. If you are looking for guarantees in this life, there is only one source; God’s tested Word. Today, find what you need in God’s promises and live confidently by His infallible truth.
