Proverbs 30:7 NIV

The writer of the 30th chapter of Proverbs tells us that he has two requests of God; only two lifelong things He wants from the God of the universe. They are pretty basic requests, not necessarily easy but, basic. They have to do with his integrity and fundamental survival needs. Got is not a genie in a bottle here to grant you three wishes, but it is a very valuable exercise to consider that if you only get two requests the rest of your life, what are your two requests of God? The old genie in the bottle ones were 1- enormous wealth, and 2- more wishes. I’m reading a book that is helping me realize where our focus should lie as believers. The book challenges me to consider if I’m living with a finite view of life or an infinite view. It is obvious how those two would impact most people’s requests of God. The finite view pushes us to think in temporal terms and the infinite challenges us to think eternal. God tells us clearly that we are eternal beings. He reminds us that two things last forever: The Word of God and the souls of men. Today, don’t chase temporal goals, i.e. money, power, etc. Chase the eternal God-honoring, life-giving things, i.e. the souls of men, the glory of God, etc. #BeTheEdge
