Proverbs 31:3 NASB

Easy to read this verse and feel good about yourself. At least as long as you are not having an affair or in some sort of inappropriate heart or sexual relationship. However, as is so often the case in scripture, the lesson here also speaks to those of us prone to lend our energy and/or attention to other destructive behaviors. The list of biggies is obvious. “The seven deadly sins is a grouping and classification of vices within Christian teachings, although it does not appear explicitly in the Bible. Behaviors or habits are classified under this category if they directly give birth to other immoralities.” We all pretty well know this batch although we may use different words for them. Pride, covetousness, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth are the big 7, but the list of sins that immobilize and destroy our walk with Christ include other less flamboyant sins. Selfishness and greed certainly have destroyed a lot of believers. The list is long. Only you and God are aware of what may destroy your walk with Him. Today, ask Him to identify what could take you down, and allow the Holy Spirit to eliminate it from your story.
