Proverbs 3:5 NIV

For years, I kept a poster hanging in my office. It was there to remind me of who God is—His power and His trustworthiness. It showed a picture of Jesus hanging on a cross, and it said that Jesus allowed Himself to be nailed to a cross, believing His Father would raise Him from the dead. And He did. Good Friday is a reminder of the trust that Jesus had in His Father. So far, God has not asked me to die on a cross or even to die at all for Him. It is difficult to ponder, but I truly believe that if I knew it was God’s plan, I would. In considering the reality of giving my life for Him or for anyone else, I believe it is actually harder to live for someone than it is to die for them. To truly live for someone is a moment-by-moment, every-second-of-every-day commitment. To die for them can happen in an instant. For Jesus, it happened over a six-hour period. Trusting God not only in the moment of our death, but trusting Him in every instant of our life, is what we are called to do. Solomon wrote in this verse to trust Him with all of our heart, without needing to fully understand. That is the present challenge for believers. Trusting Him in every moment of living is also a key element of our calling. Today—trust Him and rest. #BeTheEdge
