Proverbs 5:1 NIV

I love the story of the Baptist search committee visiting a church to hear a pastor they were considering for their next leader. They were so impressed with his message that they gathered in the lobby right after the service to talk and decided to offer him the position right then and there. He accepted. On his first Sunday at the new church, he preached a tremendous message. They were a little confused when he preached the same sermon the next week. After four weeks of hearing the same sermon, it was decided that someone needed to talk to their new pastor. A member of the search committee met with him and asked about the repeated message. The pastor told him, “When you guys begin to practice that one, we’ll move on to a new truth.” Solomon begins the last four chapters with basically this same message. Proverbs repeats many themes over and over. Peter made a point of telling the early church that he would remind them of the basic truths of the faith as long as he lived. Today, refresh yourself on the basics of the faith. #BeTheEdge

“So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.” 2 Peter 1:12 NIV
