Proverbs 7:10 NIV

Ok, there is no avoiding it. Solomon spends a lot, I mean a whole lot, of his time talking about sex and the consequences of illicit sexual behavior. He is warning the young men particularly. Perhaps his fathers issues with his mother as well as his own battles with sexual sin inspired a lot of this. In case you wondered about the prevalence in our sex saturated culture of sexual temptation and sin here are a couple salient points. Although 20 percent of women look at porn more than twice a month. Very few watch porn on a weekly, let alone daily, basis. Not so with men. Nearly 70 percent of men consume porn at least once per week.” (Fatherly.com) According to another source about 40% of unmarried relationships and 25% of marriages see at least one incident of infidelity. Also in an issue of the ‘Marriage and Divorce’ journal it stated that “70% of all Americans engage in some kind of affair sometime during their marital life.” I’m not exactly sure what that means but these numbers are stunning and heartbreaking. With these numbers in mind  I want to affirm Solomon speaking often and boldly on behalf of Gods design in the area of sex and holy behavior in this area. Today check your guard rails on this part of your life and firmly hold onto Gods truth in this vital discipline of godly living. #BeTheEdge
