Stop, drop and roll. When we are young, hopefully, we learn this short saying instructing us on what to do if we ever discover we are on fire. Hopefully you’ve never encountered that situation but if you think about it, especially if you know much about how fire spreads, we realize it makes great sense. The reason it is necessary to drill that into our brain is because the tenancy when caught in a crisis like that is to run and keep running to try to escape what’s happening. When pondering that in a calm setting we realize trying to outrun it is the opposite of what we should do. This whole chapter is designed to help us understand the “schemes“ of the devil. As we learn them while we are younger we know how to avoid them and the consequences associated with them as we grow. When Solomon refers to the ‘simple’ throughout this chapter he is literally talking about the young and those uneducated in the things of God. He realizes that the smartest among us still has an IQ well below that of Satan. If we rely on what we know or what we think we know, we are in big trouble. Thankfully God‘s IQ has no end to the zeros behind it. If we rely on what He knows and wants to teach us Satan can never win. Today, listen to God’s instruction on Satans’ schemes and learn. #BeTheEdge
