Dr. White tells us that a persons personality is essentially set by the age of 2. I’m not sure how much I buy that but I do believe we can discover a lot about who someone is by observing them early in life. I remember things I observed in my own children that over 30 years later gave a clear look at who they would be today. We were always so excited to see a new aspect of their emerging gifts, talents and interests. I really love the way Elizabeth A. Johnson explains that God’s wisdom is implanted in the world and is God’s way to “lure human beings into life.” What a fun picture. We know God loves His children. I can almost see the glee on His face as we discover fresh glimpses of His awesome nature when we encounter a new view of Him in His revealed wisdom. The God I gave my life to over 45 years ago is certainly the same one I serve today. What has changed dramatically is my understanding of Him. Over time He has revealed Himself to me in a variety of ways. Some of those ways were painful while others were great celebrations. All together His wisdom revealed a fuller picture of who He is.
