Proverbs 9:11 NIV

This doesn’t mean you will die younger if you don’t live by God’s wisdom although you might. Solomon is telling us the quality of your life will be better as you live it according to God’s wisdom. So yes, the length of your life may be longer but it will definitely be more worth living as you operate in His truth. The practical health benefits of this verse are well known in the medical field. Low stress comes with Godly living. Avoiding sexual sin and living at peace with your neighbors also brings well know health benefits. Much of living according to scripture also results in respecting the temple of God, our bodies. I chatted with a good friend the other day whose mother is about to go be with the Lord after over 90 years on this planet. He described her life as a follower of Jesus. The thing he said specifically that caught my heart in reading todays verse was, “she served God beautifully for over 92 years”. Todays average life expectancy is just under 73 years. By todays standard she certainly has had a long life. He also described her having a good life. Solomon tells us that is the case for those who pursue God’s wisdom. Today invest in your future both here and into eternity by pursuing God. #BeTheEdge
