“The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” Proverbs 11:1 NIV
In business the feeling that as long as the customer or client is happy that’s enough, is common. That is a pretty good goal. However, Solomon takes the standard of success higher. It goes straight to the throne room of God. We have all seen examples of work being done, and the worker discovering they made some mistakes but feeling that if no one else noticed, it would be fine. You and I know that’s not okay. A friend once told me that he needed to go back to a home where he had done a maintenance project a month prior. I asked why, and he told me that the day before, he found a part that belonged in their equipment at the bottom of his truck bed. I asked if he was sure it was from their project, and he assured me it was. So I then asked if they were having problems as a result of the missing piece. He said he did not believe so. I then asked if they would eventually have an issue without the part, and he told me he did not know but didn’t think so. Finally, I asked why he felt the need to go back and make them aware of the fact that he missed including the part initially, especially when it most likely would never be noticed. He replied that regardless of whether they ever missed it or not, he knew he had not done the complete job well and that his Heavenly Father was aware. He then told me he could not rest knowing he had not done an excellent job, regardless of who else knew. He was not dishonest in his original work, but he felt he owed it to God to do it right. Today, work for your King. #BeTheEdge
