“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
Integrity is a subject that is often taught or preached for a long period of time. There are books completely dedicated to the topic, and I’ve read some of them. The impression given by these resources is that integrity is something we must work diligently at building into our lives. I will not disagree that it can take practice at times to make it a habit. However, at that point, I’m not sure if we end up with integrity, or more likely with truthfulness, sincerity, or honesty. All are great characteristics, but they are more learned behaviors than integrity. As we grow closer to Christ, the more we become Christlike. The result of being Christlike is a life of integrity. How could it not be? In the same way, an orange tree planted in the right place and nurtured under the right conditions naturally produces sweet oranges, a person planted correctly in their faith and spiritually nourished will produce the fruit of righteousness. Business leaders I’ve observed operating with a high level of integrity seldom have to pause to consider the godly response in a situation. It’s just how they operate. More accurately, it’s just who they are and whose they are. A simple definition of integrity is “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change.” Those leaders live this way naturally. Today, let Jesus live through you. #BeTheEdge
