“The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.”
In this verse, proud of heart is all encompassing. The original word for heart means the seat or originating place of emotions will end in intellect. That’s all of us. Every piece. Proud is just what we would think, having a high or lofty view of ourselves. This person has no place in their perspective for anyone else to be as important as they are. No one’s opinion matters in light of their own. Over the years I have known people like this. I suspect you have as well. They are difficult to work for or with. No matter what the issue or project you are nothing more than a tool in their arsenal or a nuisance. I certainly don’t care for that kind of person more importantly God detests them. More than that it is inevitable that they will face harsh consequences as a result. Followers of Jesus can at times battle pride. We all do. However no follower of the Lord can be as engrossed in their own desires as the person Solomon describes in this verse. When we come to Christvabd receive the indwelling Holy Spirit the process of conforming us to Jesus image begins. Our journey begins one’s less about us and more about others. Today forsake pride. #BeTheEdge
