Proverbs 23:24 NIV

“You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.”

This is the description of a person who is at great risk as they sleep in a drunken state in a very perilous situation. That describes much of the world during this Christmas season. I once heard a story about a bridge tender in Europe who everyday moved the train bridge between two deferent perilous gaps in the mountains. If he didn’t do it the train would go into the ravine and everyone on board would plummet to their death. One day as the train approached he went to pivot the bridge and he heard his young son crying out stuck in the mechanisms of the bridge. To move the bridge would take his son’s life. With tears in his eyes and his son’s cries in his ears he saved the trains passengers. As the train passed he saw the people through the windows laughing, drinking and partying, having no idea the sacrifice just made to save them from destruction. I’ve been told this is a true story. I hope not. But we all know of a true story that is somewhat similar. The world at Christmas often resembles this story. A Father, The Father, gave His only Son to die a horrific and painful death to save us all . Too often we watch a world pass through this season living without a clue as to what was sacrificed for them and us. This year let’s live in a conscious awareness of what took place and, while celebrating, keep the sacrifice in mind. Today remember Christmas is about Easter. #BeTheEdge

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬
