Proverbs 6:7 NIV

“It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,”

Solomon talks about ants of all things and uses them as an example of being a wise person. Paychex defines quiet quitting as: “a disengaged employee doing the bare minimum, eventually leading to their departure. Despite their dissatisfaction at work, quiet quitters continue to collect a paycheck until they finally leave or are terminated.” This is not new, and most business leaders I speak with have been aware of it for a while and are tired of hearing about it. In this portion of Proverbs, Solomon talks about ants not needing a king or boss to do the necessary tasks of ant life. He is not particularly interested in us becoming smarter about entomology. He is, as always, making a comparison between this tiny pest and its positive inherent behaviors and people who struggle with the basic requirements of living a productive life. God has made it very clear that life is a gift, and wasting it through laziness is not acceptable for kingdom people. Everything we do is a reflection not only of who we are but also of whose we are. We are not our own. As followers of God, we have been bought with a price—an incalculable price. God sent His only Son to die so that we are set free to pursue our amazing, light-giving, salt-shaking life. Today, give it your all for Him. #BeTheEdge
