“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”
I bought a new Bible. It has literally been decades since I last bought a Bible I could hold in my hands. It was on my counter, and I saw my grandson (18 years old) looking through it the other day. I asked about his Bible, and he said it was a King James and that he sometimes struggled to understand it. I gave him that one and bought my second Bible in decades that day. A speaker was recently talking about the uniqueness of holding a Bible in your hands and what it offers that an electronic Bible on a device doesn’t. As he spoke, I realized just how much I missed holding mine. Over the years, working with teenagers, I had routinely given my Bibles away. I miss some of the underlining and notes, but it was worth the trade-off. I have one my wife (girlfriend at the time!) gave me back in college. It’s underlined and highlighted—and barely holding together. I have always loved the feel of a Bible in my hands and the realization of the supernatural nature of it. How do you seek Him? What a great promise that if we seek Him, we will find Him. That process must start in His Word. I’ve enjoyed the convenience of my Bible apps and their resources, but ultimately it doesn’t matter which you use—just that you use something. Today, seek Him and love Him. #BeTheEdge
