Proverbs 14:1 NIV

I remember talking to a guy once about proverbs when he remarked, “there are some pretty direct versus toward women and the damage they can do and how difficult they can be to live with.” He went on to talk about how he’s glad Solomon didn’t take aim quite so directly at men, especially husbands. I kind of shook my head inside thinking about the fact that he was missing the point. The entire book of Proverbs is taking aim men as well as women and giving clear instruction, some pretty direct to men and frightening. Assume anything about scripture other than how it relates to and applies to your walk in the kingdom of God is a dangerous thing. Unless you were called to teach others, which i understand we all are to some extent, it is risky to look for versus application in others lives and miss out on their application in our own. Most of our time in God’s word should be to learn what His Spirit wants to teach us about how we are to live and reflect His kingdom in our daily lives. To assume we know what The spirit of God wants to do through the power of his word in certain areas of someone else’s life is considerably arrogant. Without knowing the journey God is taking them on or that even sin has taken them on leaves us with very little understanding of the work God wants to do deep in another’s soul. But we have a general idea of what needs to be done in ours as the light of God‘s truth and the power of his spirit shines into our soul. Today let God speak to you and that will keep you plenty busy. #BeTheEdge
