Proverbs 16:1 NIV

Have you ever just blurted something out and thought. “oh my goodness, what did I just do?” If it gives you any comfort, I’m pretty sure we’ve all done that. If you’re like me it’s probably happened to you numerous times. That being said you probably don’t get any comfort just knowing other people have done the same thing. The level of embarrassment or damage done makes you feel like the biggest idiot in the world, at least at that moment. A great gift that God has given us is the ability to think before we speak. I mean, do you really think and by that I mean think for a while before you speak? Preparing our words before they leave our mouth is truly a sign of maturity and wisdom. Do you count to 10? That may be a great sign of intelligence practiced by God’s children. I know it is powerful for me. Well, at least when I’m wise enough to do it. If we take the time to consider our words, the perception others will have and the impact those words can have, as well as consulting God’s spirit before we reply, our words have a chance to be healing, uplifting and life-changing. Otherwise they can be spirit-crushing, heartbreaking and even life-taking without that even being our intent. Today allow your speech to marinate in the Spirit of our living God and then bless those who hear. #BeTheEdge
