Proverbs 16:4 NIV

“The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.” Proverbs 16:4 NIVI read between one and two books a week. I also watch a lot of movies. The difference between most books and movies is that books have time to neatly tie up loose ends before they finish. Movies don’t always have enough time to do that. A really good movie figures out how to do that but even then, it almost never ties everything up neatly. Life tends to be a series of loose ends from year to year and season to season. They can haunt us later in life, especially those that we regret but find it’s too late to go back and address. There is a lot of depth to pursue in this verse but one thing I find very comforting is the truth that God’s world and His plan is solid and tight. As Kidner said, “The general meaning is that there are ultimately no loose ends in God’s world: everything will be put to some use and matched with its proper fate…” I love that. We see a world that at times, many times, appears to be out of control and in utter chaos. We see lives that definitely are. But somehow the world is always moving in perfect, absolutely perfect, sync with God’s sovereign, flawless design. Mind blown right? We serve a God of order. His invention of math shows us that. Worried about what you observe going on around you? Relax, own this truth and He will keep you in perfect peace. His promise, not mine. Today, live boldly and at peace with the realization that our God reigns. #BeTheEdge
