Proverbs 18:14 NIV

You have probably seen YouTube clips or Facebook posts about him. You may have even seen him on a news show or heard him at a conference. If you haven’t, once you’ve read and meditated a moment on this devotion go google him. His name is Nicholas James Vujicic and he is a 39 year old Christian evangelist and motivational speaker. He was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of arms and legs. Or maybe you’ve heard of John O’Leary who at 9 years old dropped a match in a gas can and was burned on over 95% of his body. Much like Nick, John has not only survived, he has thrived. He is now a very successful author, speaker, businessman, father, and husband. Let me now just mention Steve. Steve is a perfect physical specimen of a 37 year old man. Wonderful wife and amazing kids. He has a company that is growing and prospering. He owns his own airplane. People don’t really like being around him though. You see he has a negative outlook on just about every one and everything in life. I think the only times I see him smile is when he makes a sarcastic observation about someone else. The point of these stories is what Solomon is saying. What is inside our hearts determines our perspective and outlook on God’s gift of life. Our body and struggles need not determine our view of the journey. Today realize your life, whatever you bear, is a gift and live it as such. #BeTheEdge
