Proverbs 20:24 NASB

A couple of times this month, I have made reference to the amazing circumstances of our Savior’s birth that first Christmas night. The reason I find it fascinating is because we have, collectively, made Christmas such a huge and visible celebration. It is an interesting tension to observe the birth of our child King in the simplicity with which it occurred, and yet with the eternal truth that it encompassed. Understanding the implication it has on the universe, as well as what it meant for our lives individually, is almost beyond comprehension. It is so beyond comprehension that some write it off as simply untrue or fantasy. Most people who come to faith have to see through the lights, sounds, and celebrations we have created for His birth and discover what is eternal in the baby in the stable. It makes no sense at first and only becomes real to us as a gift of faith from God Himself. We can appreciate God’s great love and design, but we will always struggle to fully grasp it. He knew that would be the case and He understands. Today, rest in the fact that He is God and you are not and that’s ok. Then, celebrate the eternal (Jesus) visiting His creation.
