Proverbs 2:3 NASB

If you have ever found yourself in a situation where all you have been able to do is cry out, “Why?” this verse is for you. If you haven’t, hang on you will. Life in a broken and fallen world comes loaded with pitfalls and unanticipated difficulties. It’s simply a part of the journey. Many of us live long enough to face more than one of these times. I’m a pretty blue sky guy. One of the issues with that version of living is you seldom see the hole in the ground or the obstruction on the trail that’s about to knock you for a loop. Hence the immediate reaction, “Why!!!” or “What the heck!”. One dictionary definition of discernment is the “perception…with a view to obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding:”. Discernment doesn’t always come with immediate understanding. When my first wife passed away I remember our Pastor at the time taking me aside at the visitation and asking how my family could be handling things so well. Aside from knowing the reality of her current state in eternity with her Savior, I shared how we had been busy building our lives on The Rock so that when the storms came, though the house might be a bit flimsy, we were on the most solid foundation. I assure you all of us had moments where we were alone and crying out “Why!”. But ultimate deep in our spirit, though we may not have had the answer, we knew Who did and we had absolute trust that nothing happened in our story that didn’t first pass through His hands and His love. Today freely cry for discernment as you find it freely given by God in His word and through His Son. #BeTheEdge
