Gods word is the main way He talks to us. Our prayers are the main way we talk to Him. That communication is vital to our daily lives. This verse tells us exactly how that communication is disrupted. When we ignore or disobey His instruction it cuts off our communication and fellowship with Him. If leaves us alone and isolated. You may be surrounded by others or even in an intimate setting with someone but if your relationship with God is blocked you could not be more alone. Our number one purpose for living is to be in intimate relationship with our creator God. Until we confess and repent of our sin we are in the dangerously vulnerable position of being on our own. The contrast between being safely in Gods hands and on our own could not be more stark. While in the condition of separation God not only ignores our prayers but they are detestable to Him. Imagine that, because we ignore Gods truth He in turn ignores our cries through prayer. What an awful place to be.
