Proverbs 29:14 NASB

After years of working with many who are considered poor in our society, here is a truth about them. No one chooses to be or to remain poor. There are certainly some in this world who intentionally choose the ascetic life; monks, for example. However, by and large, the majority of poor long to have more, and usually much more. A lot of the poor start many steps behind and work desperately to catch up. Others are poor because of life circumstances. Still others are poor because of decisions they made and/or continue to make. Whatever the cause, we are called on not to lump all poor people into the same boat and excuse their struggle as their own fault and not our concern. Jesus doesn’t give us that prerogative. We are commanded to help them as much as we can. Jesus tells us that when we help the least fortunate, we are helping Him. Today, don’t see ‘The Poor’. See God’s children who may need a loving hand or encouragement. Listen to His lead and then follow obediently. #BeTheEdge

“…Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” (Jesus)
