There is a lot of talk about peace these days. To be clear, there are a lot of people calling for it and looking for it. Peace is an admirable goal. Peace is not found through actions forced on others. It is not found in wishful thinking, either. Peace can be, as we are seeing, very elusive. The outside world seems built to resist and even fight against peace. God tells us to seek peace and even pursue it. Here is a truth, there will be no peace on earth until there is peace in our nations. There will be no peace in our nation until there is peace in our communities. There will be no peace in our communities until there is peace in our homes. There will be no peace in our homes until there is peace in our hearts, and there will be no peace in our hearts until the Prince of Peace sits on the throne of our life. Peace only begins as Jesus rules our individual lives. You see God is the author of real, true peace. There is a fake peace in which we declare our love and acceptance of one another without real heart change. It won’t last.
