Proverbs 5:6 AMP

“Lest thou shouldst ponder the path of life.” KJV.  I’m not a regular user of the King James Version however in this particular case he might just capture the best insight into a very specific truth of this passage. The Hebrew word translated “think” means to “ponder or weigh mentally”. I like to think I’m a deep ponderer. I’m guessing that we all do to some extent. I like to take concepts, truths even situations and consider them carefully and, in the spiritual realm, deeply. I believe that God’s grace protects the new believer for a period of time as they learn His truth. After that initial period of time we certainly still experience His grace but we are responsible to learn and grow in His truth. The way to defeat subtle sin is to not only resist, which is vital, but as Solomon reminds us here, to ponder why God’s law cautions us about the long term consequences of this sin in our journey. He has given us the ability to function not as robots but as free thinking men and women.   I know people who ponder every decision a coach makes. They ponder others decisions as well. Often these same people tend to make hasty decisions of their own relying on their “instincts”. We would do well to ponder others actions less and our own far more. Today consider deeply the decisions you make in light of God’s Truth. #BeTheEdge
