There are so many great parallels between this chapter and the New Testament. Specifically, in this verse, we see a foreshadowing of the great wedding feast (Matthew 22) that Jesus talks about and the Great Commission (Matthew 28) that He gives all of us as His followers. God’s Wisdom is portrayed as a gracious woman in this chapter who desires everyone to join in her celebration. I love the image here of our God longing for all His creation to come together as one big, happy family. There are no distinctions in this story other than those who invite, those who choose to attend, and those who don’t. As God’s followers, the Great Commission is not a burden to us. It is a privilege. The King of the universe invites us to join Him in inviting the rest of His creation to His one big celebration. Unless you are Jonah, you should cherish the opportunity to invite others to the most incredible opportunity they will ever receive: to gain eternal life with the One who loves them most. My granddaughter invited the girls from her fourth-grade class to a back-to-school pizza get-together yesterday. As word spread, every girl wanted to come. When we correctly communicate God’s invitation to the lost, they will feel a tug in their spirit toward Him. Sadly, they won’t all respond. Today, be an excited inviter. #BeTheEdge
