Proverbs 10:2 NIV

“Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.”

Jesus was born to die and to rise. We know Christmas is about Jesus’ birth, at least we should. However the real power and truth of Christmas is found on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and beyond into today and eternity. You see, without Good Friday and Easter, we would never have heard of that first Christmas, and the only Jesus we know about would probably be the former 2nd baseman for the Montreal Expos. Christmas brought the miracle of incarnation and the promise. Easter brought life, the delivery from death.
Now to be sure we will all die a physical death, lest we are here for the rapture. However some of us will escape eternal death and instead gain eternal life. This life is brought and bought through the righteousness of Jesus and His sacrifice. Reading the Christmas story should always include the crucifixion (Luke 23:33) and His resurrection (Luke 24:6). The Christmas story then continues through the book of Acts to today and beyond. It is an eternal story.
When you invited Christ to take over your story eternal life began for you at that very instant. It is easy to enjoy a baby in a manger and we should. It is harder to look at a savior nailed to a cross. Today reflect on the Righteous One who sets us free, and walk in wonder and peace during this season. #BeTheEdge
