Proverbs 11:2 NIV

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 NIV

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less.” (C. S. Lewis) Humility can be challenging in a world filled with competitive people. At work, in sports, and in almost every other area of life there is a temptation, and it can almost feel like a requirement in certain arenas, to self-promote to get ahead. I am always inspired and at times even awed by those men and women in my story who are incredibly talented and successful who live lives of quiet humility. A lot of them move below the radar while still having amazing impact on the world. The ultimate example of humility was Jesus. WHAT!?! Yep, that’s right. The Son of God humbled Himself and the Christmas story is a story of extreme humility. God became man but not just man. He became a helpless infant, born in a smelly stable because no one had room for his family on the night of His less than triumphal entry onto our little planet. The reality of His birth is comparable to a teenage girl giving birth in a broken-down car out behind an old gas station in the country. Now that’s a humble start. Today, follow the example of our Savior, recognize any good in your story is a result of God’s presence in your life, and walk in humility. #BeTheEdge

“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:8 NIV
