Proverbs 12:3 NIV

“No one can be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.” Proverbs 12:3 NIV

There is a tree in White Mountain, California named Methuselah. I know, who names a tree right? Well, this one deserves a name. It is considered by scientists to be the oldest living tree in the world. In reality there are probably older trees in places man has yet to walk but this one at 4,852 years old currently holds the title. 2,833 BC seems to be the date it began its life on Earth. Its root system is said to be a 10,000-foot compartmentalized vascular system – the roots are key to its survival. I can go on and on about this amazing phenomenon of life science. Suffice it to say that what Solomon is referring to in this verse is a root system very much like Methuselah’s that cannot be uprooted because it is deep, wide and permeating God’s spiritual foundation. In an ice storm or facing a hurricane, the pine trees near my home tend to fall over. They have a very small root system that brings no firm stability in the storm. The hardwoods stand strong and battle through the storms, their root system tends to be extensive. Today, get your root system deeply into God and His truth and stand firm. #BeTheEdge
