Proverbs 12:7 NIV

“The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm.”

It can be easy to feel defeated today no matter which social crowd or political party you are a part of. The violence and division is as bad as I ever remember. It can be helpful to turn off the news, quit reading the press and ignore social media for a while, or for good. The Bible gives a brilliant picture of how everything eventually turns out for the followers of God. It also brings hope for today as we find rest in the truth of who is really in charge. Philip Yancey in his book ‘The Jesus I Never Knew’ says, “I would prefer, I must admit, to live in a country where the majority of people follow the Ten Commandments, act with civility toward each other, and bow their heads once a day for a bland, nonpartisan prayer. I feel a certain nostalgia for the social climate of the 1950s in which I grew up. But if that environment does not return, I will not lose any sleep. As America slides, I will work and pray for the kingdom of God to advance. If the gates of hell cannot prevail against the church, the contemporary political scene hardly offers much threat.” That’s a pretty powerful and encouraging perspective. When God is the home builder and it’s is placed squarely on The Rock we can rest securely in the hands that control our story. Today listen to the source of all truth and find peace in Him as the one who controls the outcome of your battles. #BeTheEdge
