Years ago there was a popular bumper sticker with Christians. It read, “God said it. I believe it. That settles it.” I always felt that was a little arrogant and wrong. The truth would read, “God said it. That settles it.” You see it is important that I believe what He said for my sake but it is settled truth whether I believe it or not. Solomon is making the point in this verse in the original language that the hearer is still bound by God’s instruction whether they believe it, like it or want it in their lives. His truth is truth always and for all. We can battle it but ultimately we are all still bound by it. In the same way gravity dictates a lot of our existence regardless of how we feel about it. We can scream at the top of our lungs, “gravity does not exist.” Yet, we still cannot jump over a bus or survive jumping off the Empire State Building. Gravity doesn’t care if you believe in it. It will still do it’s thing and if you ignore it and try to live without it you will be in a very dangerous place. Today recognize God and His instruction and receive your reward. #BeTheEdge
