“The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.” ‬‬

I live in a house I built 15 years ago. Within the last 12 months I have replaced the heat and air unit. Yeah that wasn’t cheap. Then I had it pressure washed which revealed it needed painting. Yeah also not cheap. The water and ice panel on the refrigerator needs to be replaced. Get the idea? I’m hoping I’m not wicked but Solomon is making the point that many on this planet put great care and effort into having beautiful homes. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself. He is amplifying the point that for the wicked that’s all they have and it occupies much of their effort and yet it will one day be rotted and gone. My house is proof. In contrast we learn that as God’s followers we may only have a tent on earth, as becomes those who are strangers and pilgrims; and yet this home is more secure, the hopes founded upon it are more lasting, for it continues on into eternal life. His point actually goes beyond homes and into the pursuit of wealth and possessions compared to pursuing the fruit of the spirit and God’s call on our journey. There is worry and stress over possessions by the wicked that will only be destroyed. There is peace and contentment for God’s followers as they watch God work in their life. Today pursue the things of God. #BeTheEdge
