Proverbs 14:12 NIV

“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”

Just in case you miss this truth Solomon repeats it verbatim in chapter 16. It’s a big deal to him. He also talks in other places about the way. Our life journey. Solomon knows we can follow our passions and self interests at times. That we can be prone to allowing them to interfere with or drive our decision making. It is dangerous to miss God’s plan and follow our own. With death at the end it’s as dangerous as it gets. Going our way instead of God’s can certainly lead to physical death. More often, much more often, it leads to death in a relationship. Maybe a marriage ends as the result of pursuing what seems right in this world. I’ve dealt with many couples facing divorce. They often have no idea where things started to go wrong. They thought they were doing it right. However, they never truly familiarized themselves with God’s holy design for marriage. Often His plan flies in the face of the worlds definition. Perhaps it’s is when a child goes wrong. There again they typically follow societies design for child raising and miss out on God’s plan. It can be very easy to confuse and then substitute a plan that “feels” right for God’s plan that “is” right. Today ignore your feelings and rest fully on God’s clearly laid out plan for our lives. The feelings will catch up later. #BeTheEdge
