Proverbs 14:16 NIV

“The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.”

Because I came to Christ at 15 year old I have lived most of my life with a clear understanding that God was always involved in my journey as well as everything else in the universe. When I have wandered off into sin I was always aware that my vulnerability to the consequences of that sin or even the lack of protection for my life were elevated. I was at risk and unprotected. Sin leaves us exposed. Although I’d like to think my love for God is all I need to live rightly for Him the awareness of my situation while walking in sin and away from Him is a great motivator to avoid walking in or even near evil. The idea that there are people who live unaware of this truth is difficult for me to grasp. Solomon makes it clear the foolish person actually thinks they are living in security when the opposite is true. They are in great danger. Danger of the consequences of sin here and in danger of the eternal penalty as well. Today avoid evil but when you fall quickly confess and repent and get back to the protection of God. #BeTheEdge
