“Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips.”
I’ve mentioned before that I spent many years working with teenagers and college students. I cannot begin to count how many times one of them made a really bad decision based on the pressure placed on them by the person or people they chose to spend their time with. In my current role working with the business community I see the same scenario often happen with them. Interestingly those bad decisions are not typically made in their business lives. They tend to be made in their social or family lives. They have survived in business because they learned to surround themselves with wise counsel. They learned quickly who the foolish counselors were, mostly by track record but also using the intuition that helped them succeed to this point in business. Sadly too many don’t rely on the same instincts or lack similar moral and spiritual insight to draw the necessary boundaries around who they allow to speak into the other, and I’d argue more important, areas of their lives. They punch out at work and open their life to the influence of foolish people. It may be on the golf course, in a bar or just where their mind goes on tv. They allow foolish voices free reign in their mind, heart and actions. As a result their business may flourish while the rest of their story crashes and burns. We’ve all seen it. It is extremely sad. Today listen to wise, godly voices, in all areas of your journey. #BeTheEdge
