Proverbs 1:5 NASB

“A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,”

It is the Christmas season. Actually, the Christmas season seems to start right after the Fourth of July, (omit comma) these days. Be that as it may, my friend Freddie Langston once changed a few lyrics in his cover of a James Taylor song called “Home by Another Way.” It talks about how the Wisemen encountered Jesus and, with the help and input of an angel, decided to take a different route home instead of the one they traveled to meet the newborn Savior.  In the song he makes a case that all “wise” people will pick up their journey in life following a new direction after meeting the resurrected Christ. I like that. You see, when we encounter God and his truth, we become instantly wiser. As we study Him and His truth, we continue to grow wiser still.

As stated in this chapter, and throughout the book of Proverbs, it’s good for all of us to gain wisdom. God‘s goal in sending His Son is to change us, conform us to His image, and make us wiser. As we begin the journey into this Christmas season, it is a great time for a fresh look at our Savior and to allow His spirit to change us and our direction. We all have areas in our life that could use some adjustment, some course correction, and some wisdom. Today, allow a fresh encounter with your Savior to realign your course with Him and His call on your life. #BeTheEdge
