Proverbs 15:10 NIV

“Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path; the one who hates correction will die.”

One of the commentaries on this verse started this way, “The sinner is annoyed by discipline, correction, or true teaching, because they curb the indulgence of his passions, make him uneasy in conscience, and force him to look to future issues.” Can I confess that I’m annoyed at times by discipline and correction too. The difference may be the fact that I do love true teaching. I’ve drifted off the path and been hit with a few doses of that stern discipline enough to know that staying on the path is a really wise idea. I learned from enough of these times in my past to focus on the future issues they caused and therefore work to stay right where God intends for me to be. This verse is more applicable to that person who decides to walk away from the faith completely. To go completely and willingly off the path. They may play around the edges of faith, go to church, put the stickers on their car window and even serve as an elder or a deacon but they’ve walked away. Death awaits that person. Death of relationships and ultimately their soul. I don’t completely understand it. Were they never really saved? Did they lose their salvation? Did they believe they were one of the elect but weren’t? I have my view but whatever the case may be, death is death. Today cling firmly to God’s path and live an abundant life. #BeTheEdge

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Jesus
