Proverbs 15:19 NIV

“The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.”

Much of my property use to be covered with trees and thick undergrowth. Occasionally one of my grandchildren would be playing catch and the ball would get away from us and go off into that growth. After just a few trips into that underbrush I decided to have extra balls on hand. Over the years I have had most of the land cleared. What a difference a trip after a runaway ball is now. It’s a stroll in a park. It took a lot of effort to clear out that underbrush on so many acres. I could have seen it as too much work and left it. That is the contrast Solomon is drawing here. Everyone gets stuck, poked and scratched on the journey but the lazy just stop their journey. The righteous person recognizes those things in their story that are slowing their progress toward God’s designed goal and do whatever it takes to clear those hinderances out of their life. It may be habits, some may not even seem sinful at all, or it may be relationships that do not have your best God given interests at heart. Whatever God reveals is causing you to stumble and fight pain needs removing. Over the years, as those things are removed, you find traveling this life is more like cruising down a beautiful highway with the top down, sun shining, wind pleasantly blowing in your hair, the Beach Boys on the radio (or whoever you enjoy) and a much more enjoyable journey. Today align with God as He clears your path. #BeTheEdge
