Proverbs 14:19 NIV

“Evildoers will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.”

I don’t know about you but I have not seen this happen yet. The promise in this verse is about eternity. There certainly are times when evildoers and the wicked find their recompense in this life but more often than not the believer finds themself in the situation of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. Not Jesus’ friend Lazarus who He raised from the dead but the story Jesus tells of the rich man who ignored the beggar at his gate named Lazarus. Lazarus dies and shortly after the rich man also dies. In the afterlife the rich man finds himself suffering in hell and looks up and asks Abraham to send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and put a drop on his parched tongue. He’s told that’s not possible. This reversal of earthly roles is a glimpse at what Solomon speaks of in this verse. No matter how good the wicked may seem to have it on earth, eternity, which is much longer, will correct that injustice. Today serve God alone and find satisfaction in whatever your status. #BeTheEdge
