Proverbs 15:21 NIV

“Folly brings joy to one who has no sense, but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.”

In “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost we read “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference”. There is a little culture to start our day. One goes the right way and one goes the wrong way. Solomon is giving us a similar picture in this verse. We cannot go two directions at once. We have to choose. Leaving the choice of the direction for our life to chance is still a choice. We must be intentional to choose God’s path in life. God does not force us. The original word for folly in this verse means sin. It is an intriguing thing to watch a lost person pursue sin, sad yet intriguing. However the truly amazing thing is that while pursuing sin they seem to really believe they find joy. As the writer says, it is senseless. We can watch this daily as so many pursue such foolish, sinful behavior and relish it. True joy is found on the straight course following Christ. Today choose your path wisely. #BeTheEdge
