“The Lord tears down the house of the proud, but he sets the widow’s boundary stones in place.”
Want to please God? Look after the widows and orphans. Want to face His anger? Take advantage of either of them. In Solomon’s day he also made it clear that no one better tamper with their property lines. That was how a persons wealth or lack of was displayed. God also wants the lost to bear witness to the destruction of the arrogant who place their trust in money and worldly power. It is not enough to withstand God’s discipline. As the world watches the wealthy struggle to protect their own interests they get to compares it to those without being looked after by God’s strength and provision. There is a man and his mother in our area known as a greedy slumlord. Recently I had to speak with him regarding an old widow living in a home on his land. In the end it turned out her home had actually been built on the piece of land that adjoined his property but was not actually on it. He still owned a piece of property next to where he thought his land was. Good for him. She on the other hand turns out to have a lovely home in a free and clear piece of property. In greed he tried to evict her. In reality he could not, she actually did not live on his land. The widow received a clear title with no additional debt for her home. He on the other hand owed a massive amount for an empty few acres. In an amazing and almost inconceivable way God was her provision. The greedy on the other hand had that huge debt on an empty lot. Today defend and stand with the poor. #BeTheEdge
