“The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
Realizing that God is everywhere this verse is clearly about spiritual intimacy. When the wicked speak to God, if they speak to Him, their prayers are empty. When His followers speak with Him their conversation is about Him. Seeking His intervention, power, love, guidance, presence and answers are a few of the things we talk with our heavenly Father about. Our conversations, much like with an earthly parent, are filled with intimate issues and details. At least they should be. Prayer is a mystery. At times it can be hard to figure out. To a God who knows all what does our informing Him of things in our life accomplish? To a sovereign God what do our requests change or impact? These and so many others are very legitimate questions. Much of prayer is to help us recognize what is important or occurring in our journey and get it out into the light of God’s love where we can see it from His eternal perspective. We are able to better align our will with His once we confer with Him. The key truth in this verse is the knowledge that God hears us. He is right with us listening and responding. More than anything, knowledge of His intimate presence is life altering. Today talk to your Father, listen and relax. #BeTheEdge
