Proverbs 15:9 NIV

“The Lord detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.”

“The Lord detests”, that phrase perks my ears up. Whatever comes next is something I do not want to miss. If the Lord detests it, I want to avoid it with everything in me. There is no good outcome to having any part in what the Lord detests. The next part is big. It covers a lot. Maybe too much. I have to know all the ways of the wicked to avoid because God detests them? Seems a bit overwhelming. Thankfully He has equipped us to manage this truth. Through His word and His indwelling Holy Spirit we have all we need…as long as we listen and obey. Knowing God is the key. The brilliant theologian J.I. Packer wrote a great little book titled “Knowing God”. Early in my Christian walk I was given this book to read as I started my journey to living righteously with God. In it he deals with both the concepts of knowing about God and knowing God. It can be easy to know about God. Scripture tells us that even the demons know about Him. Truly knowing Him in the same way you get to know your spouse, a child or a best friend is the key to avoiding the way of the wicked and pursuing righteousness. Today dig deeper into knowing God. #BeTheEdge
